For over 15 years, my sister has dedicated her life to saving animals. As a vet nurse, her passion has never wavered. Even when it meant long nights, emotional tolls, or opening her own home to animals that had nowhere else to go. She’s the person who quietly does the work that few notice but every pet and family is thankful for.

One of those animals is Nala. A golden pitbull who was left behind because saving her was “too expensive.” But to my sister, no life is too expensive. She scooped Nala up without hesitation, gave her the love and safety she’d never known, and Nala became the light of our family.

Nala is the gentlest soul. Big, beautiful, and scared of almost everything. Her best friend is a black cat, and the two are inseparable. They sleep curled up together and wait for each other by the window. Their bond is as pure as it gets.

But now, Nala needs saving.

She’s recently been diagnosed with a 13cm mass on her spleen, and it must be removed. The diagnostics alone have already brought in thousands in vet bills, and surgery is urgent and expensive. The worst part is my sister can’t do what she does best. Save lives. Because she was severely injured on the job while trying to save another animal's life. She’s been out of work for over a year now, recovering with Nala faithfully by her side.

Now it’s our turn to try to return the favor, to Nala and to my sister.

We’re not the kind to ask for help. But we are now, because Nala deserves a chance. Because my sister deserves a break. Because the people who give everything shouldn’t be left to struggle alone. Every dollar raised will go directly to Nala’s surgery and recovery. Every little bit makes a difference.
