My name is Taneisha Griggs. Originally from the south side of Chicago, IL. My dream always was to become a veterinarian. From shadowing at Hyde Park Animal Clinic to volunteering in research labs at University of Illinois at Chicago. I have obtained my bachelors degree in animal science at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and obtained a Master's degree in biology at Roosevelt University. My overall career goal is to become a biomedical research veterinarian. Lifetime dream is to help advance treatments for both animals and people suffering from endocrine diseases and reproductive cancers
In addition, I was accepted into Purdue University Veterinary Medicine
program in Fall 2019!!!! However, I loss my two Aunts Nanette Holloway and Autrey that year. Therefore, due to grief, I lost my focus and motivation in school. I had decided to take an academic leave of absence to get back on my feet and will return in the Fall 2020 to complete my coursework. However, with incomplete coursework I am ineligible for financial aid to pay for living expenses. My living expenses for this Fall 2020 is only $5,200. I did not get a job due to the COVID 19 pandemic and fear of my medical condition with asthma will affect my health. My plan is to finish my first year veterinary medicine coursework, stay on track with the Dean of Student Services as my academic advisor, Dr. Weisman and Dean of Admissions, Dr. Salisbury. Also, meet with them regularly to stay on course and meet regularly with my study groups for Fall 2020.
If possible, anything will help at this point in time financially. I will be starting Purdue Veterinary medicine in the Fall 2020 on August 17,2020. I appreciate your time and consideration. apologize for the short notice.Hope to make my dream a veterinarian biomedical researcher a reality with your help.
