Vet costs for Momma Cat

A few months ago, we caught 5 kittens and their mom. They were all completely feral, so we tried to get them used to people while we waited for their appointments for them to be spayed and neutered. Right before the girls were going to get spayed the momma cat was gaining a ton of weight, which we just thought she was eating a lot after being feral her whole life.

Turns out she was pregnant! And she had another SEVEN babies! They were born on August 9th.

All of a sudden momma cat wasn’t nursing her babies and we could tell something was wrong. We took her to the vet where we were told she had an infection and had to stay overnight. Her temperature was 106 and we were told she would need emergency surgery to remove her uterus as that’s where the infection was.

Thankfully, she got significantly better during her overnight stay and was able to just take antibiotics for another day before going home.

During this time at the vet, her bill became almost $2,000! Thankfully, she didn't need surgery, but now she can't nurse her kittens, and she can't even be with them until she is off the meds, and is no longer producing milk, so as to not get another infection.

We are happy to have saved her but were not expecting a vet bill this high after just planning to catch, spay, and release her. Now we have 7 more babies to take care of and eventually spay, on top of the other 5 and momma we brought in.

These donations will go towards momma cat's vet bill. Everything above the $2,000 will go towards spaying and neutering the other 7 kittens and momma cat, and food for all 16. These cats will need homes as well, so if you cannot donate, please share to help find them homes!
