Vet Care for Marge, the abandoned blind Shih-Tzu

She was in the trash in an alley in our neighborhood, covered in spider webs, found by a family who lives in that immediate area. They were unable to care for her as they have 2 very large dogs. We responded to the father's call on Nextdoor and we took her home. He had discovered that she was deaf and mostly blind and probably has arthritis in her hips. We gave her a bath, fed and gave her water. Now she is doing ok with us. She is a sweet dog, a Shih Tzu, hasn't barked since we took her in, and mostly sleeps. We don't know how old she is, but will get her to Planned Pethood this week to get her checked up.

We learned how to not scare her by tapping the floor in front of her, letting her sniff our hand before we try to pet her or pick her up. She shakes a lot less than when we had her for the first couple of days. Ed also works as a care team coordinator in a nursing home (behavioral) and took her to work with him--the residents loved her and she was very good around them.

However she ended up in the trash, I don't know, but someone either abandoned her because of her health issues or something else equally cruel. We don't know how long she has, but we do know that she deserves to live out her life in peace, comfort, and safety. Just like anything other living thing. The world can be a terribly harsh place, and these poor creatures (domesticated pets) are dependent on humans for their care since we chose to intervene in their evolutionary paths. 

We are just looking for a few kind souls to help us get the care she needs to be comfortable and happy.
