My kids and I were out exploring the fallen snow in the woods. We suddenly heard a kitten meowing, over and over; it seemed to be in trouble. We finally found her under a random hunk of metal lying there; she must have gotten under for shelter. She was COMPLETELY covered in ice and her fur was stuck to the side of the metal scrap she was hiding under, so she couldn't move. It was so sad, she was so tiny, maybe 3-4 weeks old. We got her free and brought her home. We warmed her up and fed her, and she is so happy now.

As excited as we are to have Elsa, it wasn't exactly the best timing. Money has been tight lately due to some personal health issues, but we of course had to take her in.

We needed to get Elsa to the vet as quickly as possible to make sure she didn't have anything that could be passed on to our other cats. Thankfully, she didn't have anything contagious, but she did need multiple medications and tests.

Some kind-hearted and generous Reddit users commented that they were interested in contributing to the costs of Elsa’s vet appointments. Mods on the cats subreddit do not allow donation requests, but I have set up a GoFundMe account in case anyone would like to help us with continuing vet bills for Elsa. There will be a follow-up appointment as well as an appointment for vaccinations once she is old enough to receive them. She will need to be spayed as well. Thank you to the two friendly strangers who have already helped with a portion of the initial visit and the couple at our church who provided kitten formula and pate when the ice storm kept all the stores closed.
