Vet bills for Trygg's gunshot wounds

Please help our neighbors, Nick and Allie, pay their vet bills. Last night, 1/13/21, their dog Trygg was shot in cold blood behind their own house by another neighbor named ***. This happened while Nick and his 5 year old daughter were carrying their Christmas tree out their backdoor. Trygg exited the house first and before they could even get off the porch the dog was shot right in front of them. *** was standing on his balcony behind an enclosed fence. He had previously threatened to call animal control the next time he saw him off leash. (PS, no laws or rules were broken by Trygg being off leash.) He was patiently waiting with the gun ready. The dog did nothing to provoke or endanger him in any way.

Nick and Allie have been our neighbors and friends since we moved next door 3+ years ago. They have 2 kids who Trygg loves dearly. Trygg has always been welcome into our home and has been excellent with our 5 year old daughter and is best friends with our Golden Retriever. He was also a therapy dog for Nick's grandparents. We have seen him interact with many children in the neighborhood and other dogs without incident. We have gone on camping trips and weekend getaways with their family. Trygg is the goodest of boys. He did not deserve this.

Trygg is currently at the vet recovering from surgery. The bullet (or bullets) went through his neck, chest and paw. He has esophageal damage, bullet fragments in his chest, and lots of blood vessel damage. The tendons in his paw are torn and will require a separate surgery. Luckily, he is stable and doing well. However, because of Covid, he is recovering all alone. He still has a long road to recovery.

Charges are absolutely being filed. In the event that the vet bills are covered by restitution, any money donated to this GoFundMe will be redirected to Alaska Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Since restitution is not guaranteed, it would mean so much for this family to not have to worry about the cost of saving their dogs life.
