Today has been heartbreaking in our dog world. On Wednesday Solos mom rushed her to the emergency vet with unusual symptoms- high fever, lethargy, no appetite, vomiting, constipation. She had gotten into some garbage the day before so a blockage was suspected. The emergency vet ran her through multiple tests, all of which came up negative. The vet treated the symptoms and felt comfortable to send her home with her mom with instructions to see her vet the next day. On Thursday she went to Suffield vet with the hopes of figuring things out. Instead poor Solo deteriorated. Her fever got worse, and her liver enzymes were elevated. The vets ran every test they could think of to no avail. At this point her brain swelled and she crashed a few times. They gave her plasma and she seemed to rally but at 5 pm she took a turn for the worse. Despite valiant efforts to save her beautiful Solo crossed the rainbow bridge met, no doubt, by her loving mother, Shiz who crossed that same bridge herself just a few short weeks ago.
Dealing with the loss of our Velkro babies is hard enough, but in this time the financial impact is extremely difficult. Solos mom is a professional handler with two babies at home on limited income until dog shows start again. She would never ask for this help herself so I will. The vet bills are over the goal asked for in this go fund me. Whatever we can do to help will ease a litter of the pain today.
Hug your four legged furry ones closer. Kiss their faces. Cherish every minute.
