Hi,
My cat, Atticus, has a urinary blockage and the procedure cost is $1600. I was able to choose a payment plan of $47 a month for two years.
The main problem is that catheters are recommended to stay in for 3 days, but I cannot afford to have him stay at an overnight clinic for that long. If this first procedure is successful and he doesn’t have another blockage for a few weeks, then I will use the money raised to go towards completely paying off the vet bill as soon as possible before it starts accruing interest. If he has another blockage, then I will need to pay for another procedure. I would prefer to have him put into an overnight clinic to lessen the chances of the blockage returning so he won’t have to keep having procedures and eventually a surgery to remove his urethra entirely.
I was approved for $2500 total to have a payment plan for at this particular vet clinic—Night Owl in Mishawaka, IN. Since I’ve already used up $1600 of it, I will only have $900 left that I can have a payment plan on. Everything else will need to come out of pocket. I set the goal as $4,500 due to the estimated costs of overnight stays being $1500 a day at most clinics.
Urinary blockages are fatal, so if he doesn’t get these procedures, he will die. It is also incredibly painful. Atticus is only 10 years old and I don’t want to have to put him down for something that is easily treatable. He is my soulmate cat, I would be devastated if it came down to that.
If anyone who donates is interested in having a drawing, cross stitch, or some other craft done for them, please let me know!
Milo
