Fonzi's vet bills after pitbull killed his sister

Donation protected
An unleashed pitbull attacked my father and my toy poodles Patches and Fonzi in our own driveway. My dad had them on their leashes to take them for a walk when the neighbor's pitbull charged at him. The pitbull grabbed Patches by the throat. My dad tried to pry the pitbull's jaw open to free her. He managed to get her free and she ran under a chair next to the front door. Then the pitbull attacked Fonzi, biting his head and abdomen. My dad again fought to save Fonzi, and put him in the house. But as he did, the pitbull attacked Patches again.   What followed was a 15 minute struggle with my dad desperately trying to save my little dog's life. The pitbull bit my father's hands multiple times as he did everything he could to save her -- all while the pitbull's owner did nothing except yell at their dog to stop. With no leash and no collar on (they claimed the collar gave him a rash), they had nothing to grab onto to stop the attack. My dad rushed Patches and Fonzi to an emergency vet. It took an hour and a half to stabilize Patches. They put her into an induced coma with severe injuries to her jaw and throat... She died about eight hours later. Fonzi has been hospitalized for multiple days now. He had to have a rib removed and his kidney was punctured. My dad had to go to the ER to get stitches in his hands for the bites... He had to go back two days later for another ER visit since they are infected. Our pups were all we really had left. We lost our dog Daisy in 2016 after she was hit by a car... Two months later, we lost my mother. Patches was my mom's dog, and this feels like I'm losing her all over again. The pitbull now has a muzzle order and is deemed a "dangerous dog" in Broward County. It is under "self-quarantine" for rabies because it attacked my dad... And the owners were cited for not having it on a leash. While we will be seeking legal action against the pitbull owner, we have no idea how long that will take (it could take months or even years) -- but in the meantime our expenses have been continuously mounting with the vet bills for Patches and Fonzi. Pet hospitals charge upfront fees for the cost of care -- so far, we are at $12,000, and it's expected to keep rising. Please help us save Fonzi's life. We've already lost so much, we can't lose him too.
