Hello and thank you for visiting my fundraising page. As many of you know, I got a puppy, Baker, a little less than 2 weeks ago and he has been the sweetest, most loving, playful boy. On Wednesday, July 7, I noticed he wasn't up for any of his usual activities; all he wanted to do was sleep. Around 6 PM, I started to notice symptoms of restlessness, swollen stomach, looks of distress/pain, dry heaving, nausea, excessive drooling and overall discomfort. As the night went on, he only looked worse, so I took him to an emergency clinic where they kept him overnight and ran many tests to find out what was going on. The vets have been able to rule out that this is not a case of poisoning or a blockage of a foreign object in his stomach. They put him on IV fluids and took an X-ray to try to stabilize him and find the root of the problem. This morning I received the news that due to internal bleeding, his Red Blood Cell (RBC) count has dropped to 16% (normal for dogs is 35%). The lining of his stomach has thickened, making the vets worried that there is some sort of blood clot or cell wall damage. He received a blood and plasma transfusion this afternoon to try to restore his RBC count and an injection to help with clotting. They will keep him overnight until they find out what is going on. Tomorrow he is scheduled for an endoscopy in an attempt to see what's going on in his stomach. Pending tomorrow results, he may need further blood and plasma transfusions as well as surgery.
I'm normally not the type of person to ask for help (especially monetarily), but would so appreciate anything you can give to support and help offset some of the cost. Please consider donating to help assist me during this difficult time. All funds will go to cover his extensive vet bills and allow the medical professionals to continue to find out what is going on and help treat him. If you're a person of faith, please pray for an answer to Baker's discomfort and for a full recovery. Thank you so much!
