Hi, everyone. My name is Kathy. For those of you who know me, you know that I always remained friends with my former husband, Jose, for all the years after our divorce. We shared being family always, raising our five children together. That sharing took on a new dimension shortly before he passed away. He called me from the hospital and said, "Amaranta is yours now." Amaranta, his sweet cat, named after a favorite character in Gabriel Garcia Marquez's One Hundred Years of Solitude, came to live with me and my family. Recently Amaranta became quite ill. She stopped eating, losing weight very rapidly, and developed fatty liver disease. Amaranta was recently in the emergency pet hospital for three days. She is home now but will need more visits, blood work and care. While we are committed to caring for this very special member of our family, the cost of veterinary care is high and beyond our immediate means. And so we are asking for help. If you are able to make a donation, it would be much appreciated. Send good thoughts her way, too! Funds donated will be used to pay her hospital bill, vet bills and for medication and further blood work. We will do everything we can to nurse her back to health with excellent medical care and love. Thank you.
