A Beautiful Dog

(This story is edited and updated with current information! )

Another sweet pitty out on the streets. Sunday night, July 25, 2021 I responded to a request for help to help catch a pitty that had been roaming the neighborhood for a while. I was able to leash her and get her home with little effort - she was tired and in pain. This sweet girl is in pain. She has an open wound on her butt - it could be a mast cell tumor (not good) or could be a bad infection from an injury. She has a horrible hip issue that could be a recent injury  Her hip joint is none existent - there is zero rotation, the joint is completely separated. She can walk but must be in pain.

She weighs 46lbs and should not be more than 50lbs. Her stomach is bloated from parasites (hookworms) but not really under weight. She has multiple broken teeth - some broke to the gum line.

Amazingly - she is heart worm negative - a small miracle. No ear infections. No fleas but scratching a bit. Needs a few medicated baths.

Her microchip has no updated information. She is spayed and had a health check at Manatee Humane - there I was able to track a phone number. By some miracle - the phone number lead me to Donna, she took Samantha in to be spayed when she was young after having two litters. Samantha lived in her home with her owner Sam. When Sam passed away, Samantha was given to his nephew who has been in and out of jail and therefore Samantha was not cared for correctly at all. She either was dumped or ran for freedom. Your donation will help feed her, get her medical attention and find her a FUR-ever home. I just can't do it on my own.

Dr Plummer at Plummer Vet Hospital in St Pete gave her a complete exam. She is 10+ years old. Her eyes are a little hazy. Hearing is good. We are waiting on cytology on her wound to determine if it is cancer. She was super brave and never flinched with being poked and prodded. We have antibiotics for her to start. She is house broken, loves her crate, walks on a leash but wants to chase cats. Car rides are the bomb!

She needs a home that will let her just be a couch dog. No running, jumping or rough play. As soon as we know more on her health I will have her ready for adoption. She is gentle, likes to nap and is very calm. She was not socialized and should be an only dog and no cats.

Her first vet bill today was $500 and there will be more. Anything you can give will help. I am just one person who loves pitties and wants to help those that get dumped. She knows she is safe now.

She is laying in Baby Blue's couch spot, relaxing. Thank you to all the guardian dog angels for helping me help dogs.
