Vesper our little blind bully has landed herself a stay in the critical care unit at the emergency vet’s after injesting a foreign body.
Vesper has undergone major surgery to repair a ruptured intestine along with four linea tears which have leaked toxins into her bloodstream causing sepsis.
Vesper spent two days at the vets un diagnosed, and deteriorating, being treated only for sickness, diarrhoea and severe dehydration which had lead to worryingly low kidney count as she was not well enough to be sedated and x rayed to find the cause, which we now know was a blockage, the foreign body was a type of fabric, the vet believes this was a small amount of filling from a stuffed toy, or pet bed.
Vesper remains in critical care recovering from her surgery, dehydration and sepsis, she has a drain in place removing toxic fluids. She is receiving IV fluids, IV pain meds, antibiotics. Anti nausea, and a variety of other medications to help with her stability and recovery. Unfortunately that comes at a cost of anything upto around £1000 per 24 hour period.
We have paid the 4 days of Vespers previous care ourselves and we have also paid the cost of the surgery itself which was £1708.30 but that did not include aftercare or medicines or overnight stay.
I have failed by not having an insurance policy in place and I am extremely embarrassed having to ask for help, but unfortunately we have run out of funds and have been advised by the vet that vesper will need to stay in their care for at least another few days leaving me not only worried about my little girl, but the finances of her recovery and aftercare.
Any help is very much appreciated,
I am happy to provide invoices of what we have paid upto date, what is currently outstanding and we do receive a new itemised invoice every few hours that she remains in the care of the vets which I can also provide.
Thank you to all, for your well wishes, support and love, it means the world to us.
From Lucy, to VESPER
