This is Veronica's story,
The 14th of July 2018, when my son was 1 year old, my beloved husband just had ministered marrying a young couple and I had just sung in church for them, a terrible headache begun and made me speak weirdly which made us call for an ambulance the following evening.
We thought I would come home that night but instead I stayed at the hospital for three months, and two months more at two different rehab clinics. The doctors took many tests trying to figure out what was wrong.
My brain was so inflammated that they set a date for surgery. That’s when my husband cried out to God that he would help me and let me live. The inflammation went down and they found a name for my disease: autoimmune encephalitis, a rare inflammation that made me loose all motoric skills. I could not talk or move, so it was a victory when I finally was able to stand again.
Today I’ve relearned a lot of things, like walking, talking and eating. I might do it in a weird looking way, but still!!! I have a long way to go, and my balance, coordination, concentration, and other things have been affected. Sometimes it’s good to be a bit stubborn, if that means that you’re persistent. And it’s good to have someone or something to fight for, which I have in my family and my faith.
I need rehabilitation in different ways, for example physical therapy, speech therapy, brain therapy, and visits to the neurologist. I will need therapy at least twice a week for a whole year.
Would you consider donating to help cover the costs of Veronica's rehabilitation process?
