Veronica Rhodes Needs Our Help

Veronica Rhodes recently took a leap of faith and moved to Nashville Tennessee from West Haven Connecticut to start a new life for herself. She took all the necessary steps before moving, including securing a job as a nurse with a reputable company before she left Connecticut. Veronica was excited to continue her work as a nurse in an assisted living facility for elderly patients. She believes this is God's calling for her life.

She was enjoying her new life in the new state and had already met new friends. Her world drastically changed on the afternoon of June 9, 2018 when walking into a restaurant she suffered an ischemic stroke. An ischemic stroke occurs when the blood flow to the brain is suddenly blocked.
Our beautiful, charismatic, and easygoing friend was now faced with a fight to survive. Because of God's amazing grace, Veronica survived the stroke but not without complications. We recognize the presence of almighty God in her situation.

With any stroke, if the arteries remain blocked for more than a few minutes, the brain cells may die. Her entire right side was paralyzed and she lost full control of her speech.

Since the stroke, Veronica has gained mobility in most of her limbs, but her speech remains impacted. She cannot speak. The doctors diagnosed her with aphasia, which is a language disorder that affects a person's ability to communicate. Veronica has trouble understanding, speaking, reading or writing. Therapy includes working with a speech pathologist to retrain the functions of the left side of her brain which controls language skills.

On top of dealing with this devastating event, Veronica must now find a way to finance her treatment. Since she recently moved to Nashville and started a new job, she hadn't completed the probationary period that's mandatory for most insurance companies. She was two weeks shy of receiving full medical coverage that would've paid for all of the mounting medical expenses she's accumulated since the stroke. To make matters worse, she can't afford to begin the therapy at a treatment facility.

We are asking friends, family, communities at large, organizations, and anyone that has been personally touched by Veronica's many acts of love, kindness, spirit and generosity to assist us in eliminating financial hardship and barriers to her recovery.

This is going to be a very long and hard road. We are extremely grateful to our family and friends who have supported her since this occurred. Now we find ourselves reaching out to the community for financial support. We hope to receive enough funds to assist with her medical needs until she receives government assistance. Truly, no amount is too small, and any support is deeply appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and God bless.
