Vernise's London Marathon Journey

Welcome to my marathon journey 2018!

On April 22nd I will be running the 26 miles for two causes: Queen Elizabeth Hospital Charity and Mind, and here’s why...

In memory of my dear Grandma Devi Ba, the money will go towards the Birmingham hospital's breast cancer unit, funding research and equipment to help advance breast cancer care for women in my local community and beyond.

This is a tremendous way for me to honour and remember a woman who put up one heck of a fight against the disease. Cancer is a disease that impacts everybody's life in some way. Let's work together to stop this plight.

Running has certainly helped me get through some challenging times, which is why I am also running for the mental health charity MIND. 1 in 4 of us will struggle with a mental health issue in our lifetime yet mental health issues continue to be stigmatized and pushed aside in our communities. Among its many pursuits MIND campaigns for awareness. Sure and certain change will not come about unless the perceptions of a population change.
