My son, Verner, and his precious family have been hit with some life-changing news. After getting a CT Scan for a routine lipoma check, they discovered a mass in his head. After an MRI, they confirmed it is a 3.2cm brain tumor called a Vestibular Schwannoma (also known as Acoustic Neuroma).
The great news is that they are located very close to UCSD, which has a world renowned Acoustic Neuroma center with amazing neurosurgeons who excel in this type of brain surgery. The not so great news is that their insurance does not cover any care at this center (the surgery and hospital stay alone is $66,000).
We are so grateful this was caught when it was. Verner is young and strong and we know he will get through this with flying colors. As a Realtor though, he will need to pause his career for several months in order to focus on healing post-surgery. As the main income support for their family of 5, we can only imagine the financial stress they’re anticipating this to be.
We all know it takes a village and I’m calling on their village now to help support my beautiful family through this challenging time. Thank you all so much, from the bottom of our hearts.
