Verna Montessori School Christmas Classroom Damage
Donation protected
Hello. Thank you for considering helping our school! We are requesting your kindness on behalf of the Sisters of Charity of Ivrea and the Verna Montessori School.
Verna Montessori School is a small, nonprofit, nondenominational school for students in Pre-K thru Grade 8. The school is operated by the Sisters of Charity. The Sisters serve as directresses for the school and receive only enough to cover humble, shared living expenses. As a nonprofit organization, the school functions on a strict budget that goes directly towards keeping the school running on a daily basis.
On Christmas Day, the Sisters returned from mass to find that a water pipe in one of the classrooms had burst allowing water and ceiling debris to cover the entire classroom as well as flood the majority of the downstairs wing.
In addition to the structural damage to the ceiling, carpeting, and drywall, many wood cabinets, tables, and delicate Montessori learning materials were damaged or completely destroyed from the flooding. Thousands of intricate pieces will need to be remade/laminated or purchased to replace what has been lost. Damage costs of replacing the carpeting, fixing the drywall, and repairing the plumbing/ceiling tiles will be a huge expense even with insurance.
We implore you to help us make the classrooms whole and once again a place of serenity and joy for the students. Any contribution, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and kindness!
