Hey all,

As a lot of you know by now, my dad, Vern Johnson, passed away on October 14th. He left behind his partner, Sharon Meyer, as well as myself and my two brothers, Dereck and Ben.

My dad and Sharon worked as a team selling their crafts at farmers markets all over B.C. to keep the lights on and the fridge full. They also toured around playing music at fairs, markets, pubs and restaurants. This was how they sustained themselves financially. The unfortunate downside to this lifestyle, is that it doesn’t come with pensions or insurance. As best as they tried to save, we now have the cost burden of all the after-life stuff (cremation and etc..) to pay for. On top of that, they worked as a team, and with half that team missing, Sharon is having to learn how to make do without his contributions.

I really don’t like coming to ask for money, but we don’t have the means to offset these costs for Sharon all by ourselves. If you’re able to help out at all, that would mean the world to us, and if you can’t, it would be a huge help if you could share this around.

The goal for the fundraiser is approximately $4200 for the cremation and surrounding costs there, with everything above that going to help Sharon out directly.
