Verity & Kevin Need a New Home!
Donation protected
Hello. We are Kevin Corrington and Verity Wilcox, a couple who has been together for almost 14 years. On Thanksgiving weekend, we were forced to evacuate our SW Portland apartment due to a landslide. If you haven’t heard about it, here are a couple links to local news stories about the landslide and evacuation:

We need some help. Unfortunately, our renters’ insurance, which we had hoped would cover us for “loss of use,” does not cover landslides or other structural collapse. We are seeking financial contributions to help keep a roof over our heads until we can find a new home, to keep us eating as healthy as possible, to aid in Verity’s additional medical costs due to the stress of the evacuation, and to give us a leg up in finding a new place to live within a rental market where the costs are significantly higher than what we had been paying for the last ten years. Finally, we need help to keep our belongings in storage until we are able to move into our next home.
While we are extremely fortunate not to have been hurt or to even have lost many of our belongings, we are now living displaced. Of particular difficulty is that Verity is disabled, with both a debilitating chronic illness of 6 years and a more recent injury that further limits her physically and causes her acute pain. We are currently living in a downtown hotel room, hamstrung in our ability to look for a new apartment by many factors such as Verity’s limited ability to financially contribute, my challenges with maintaining a fulltime job in addition to helping Verity out in various ways and the competitive rental market. We all know the rental market is tough for Portlanders seeking a place to live at this time, and it’s even worse for a single- income household. Our situation is such that Verity’s disability income is solely going towards medical expenses, while my paycheck is dedicated towards paying for rent, bills and other assorted household expenses.
If you are unable to financially contribute at this time, you can help us by letting us know about leads on housing opportunities that are below market norms and/or which could be made available to us at low cost out of a charitable desire to help.
Please message us via this GoFundMe page with any questions, suggestions of helpful resources or organizations or offers of non-monetary contributions.
Please share this request with anyone you think could help. We deeply appreciate your assistance.
Thank you so much,
Kevin and Verity
