Verena’s Brain Recovery Journey
Donation protected
Hi. I’m Luna, a friend of Verena’s and wanted to create this gofundme page to help Benita who is taking care of her twin sister Verena’s medical bills, insurance claims, rehabilitation center expenses and afterwards, home-health care not covered by insurance. This gofundme page will be linked on Verena’s CaringBridge page created by Benita who keeps us updated on how Verena's doing with all her medical treatments.
Verena has had multiple surgeries at Stanford beginning on 6/4/23 when she suffered an acute severe brainstem hemorrhage and was diagnosed with an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) that suddenly ruptured. On 6/13/23, the AVM was removed from her left cerebellum. The cerebellum is a part of the brain that plays a vital role in most physical movement, including eye movements.
Fighting constant nausea, headaches, vertigo, weakness, restless nights of lights and noise, and no appetite with little nutritional intake all taking their toll, Verena bravely tries to focus on getting better one day at a time.
On 6/23/23, when she was strong enough, Verena was transferred to an inpatient rehabilitation center, where she will be for the next 3, no more than 4 weeks. The rehabilitation center specializes in recovery from brain injuries… a team of doctors and trained staff will focus on all aspects of her continued recovery (physical, medical, mental, functional, speech).…
Long road ahead for Verena.... May she soon be standing STRONG and HAPPY DANCING on her feet again! With deep gratitude, thank you for helping… in any way you can… support Verena’s healing... of her beautiful and brilliant, HEALTHY brain... and body-mind-spirit balance!
