Verano Latino Summer Camp

Verano Latino at Meredith College is week-long Spanish and Social Studies summer camp for rising 1st through 5th grade students.  The goal of the camp is to build bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural learners!  In addition to cross-cultural engagement, we are committed to providing culturally responsive native language literacy development for Spanish-speaking kids in our local community.  This "Go Fund Me" campaign seeks to raise $2,000 to send 10 low income, native Spanish-speaking kids from a local elementary school to the camp free of charge (the camp fee is $200 per kid).  This money will help us hire teachers, provide transportation, and pay for materials, snacks, and lunch each day.    

Seeing the kids realize the value of their native language, develop a strong bilingual identity, and share this pride with others is truly powerful.  Thank you for helping us make this happen with your generous donation of any amount!
