Many of you may be aware of the floods that ravaged parts of mid Michigan on May 19th. Severe rain and several broken dams caused rivers to overflow into Saginaw Valley and Midland counties. My Grandmother’s house was devasted by the flood. We are grateful that Grandma evacuated in time, but the house that my Grandpa built 67 years ago was left in shambles. The house is still standing, but 4 ft of E.coli ridden flood water left the walls, floors, electrical, furnace, appliances and furniture all unsalvageable. To compound the loss, none of the damage is covered by insurance or any aid. Grandma is 88 and fighting stage 4 lung cancer, making the destruction of the home she has lived in since she was first married heartbreaking.

Grandma is always the first to help others. She has a remarkable optimism and spirit, and she would never ask for help. That’s why my family and I would appreciate any way you can help, whether it be through a financial donation or with your prayers and positive thoughts, so we can repair and rebuild her beloved home.
