Mike Stone Memorial Fund
Donation protected
UPDATE – 06/01/15 On behalf of Mike and his family I want to thank everyone for the generosity of your support. We have reached almost $10,000 in donations from fellow employees (both current and past) and a few friends which speaks to how our USAN family/friends wanted to thank Mike and his family for his dedication over the years. We have secured an additional anonymous contributor who is going to cover the cost of all the credit card transactions fees and the GOFundMe site fees (up to $15,000 in total donations)! You can be sure that Mike’s family will receive 100% of your contributions. We will leave the site open until the end of the week and be able to present Mike’s family with our donations by next week. Thanks again, you guys are really awesome!
All,
Thank you for considering to donate to the Mike Stone Memorial Fund. Most of Mike's fellow employees know his history with USAN. But I wanted to take a moment to pass along his contribution to our company, for those of you who didn't really know Mike. Like all new startups the early years at USAN were fraught with the growing pains of new customers and the expansion of frightening "new engineered solutions". I remember spending countless hours with him, personally, from 10 o’clock at night to the wee hours of early morning… trying to get our software rebuilt and deployed before the next production day. This exercise went on every night for months and months, while we matured our software and as Mike (along with his TLS partners) cleaned up the infamous "hung ports" and rigged releases. I can tell you, without hesitation, that Mike's contribution in those early years was as key to USAN’s success as anyone in our company. I remember trading family stories, laughing at our screw ups, and occasionally playing QUAKE with him (the Horde) between code compiles and rebuilds, in what seemed like endless nights. To his credit, Mike spent almost his entire career at USAN, in one of our most demanding environments: production Third Level Support.
He was truly one of a kind, very soft spoken and one of the most dedicated behind-the-scenes workers I have ever met. I'm sure his family feels the same and we wanted the employees of USAN to have the opportunity to show our appreciation for Mike’s dedication to us. The funds generated here will go towards helping pay for Mike’s memorial service and to his family directly. Thank you.
