East Vancouver Venom is a non-profit youth football organization serving the Evergreen School district. This particular story is about a “Pee-Wee” team, led by Head Coach Nick Scott. This team is made up of 19 boys and 1 girl in the 5th, 6th and 7th grades. Many of these players have been together for several years now. They really are “a football family” on and off of the field and have they have formed a tight bond! The season started in August with practice 5 days per week, then 3 days per week once school starts as well as games on the weekends. In addition to excellence on the field, Pop Warner is the only national youth sports organization that requires good grades at school and rewards those with 90% and better GPA through the “Little Scholars” program!
VENOM Pee-Wee Charcoal is a dedicated team that has been struggling with adversity since the beginning of the season. The team does not have enough local competition in Clark County and relies on the dedicated players, coaches and families to travel to Salem each weekend in order to compete. This team is really making an impact and is currently undefeated and has reached a classification of “Division II” that allows them to compete at a higher level of play. The undefeated record in regular season is now culminating in the “Pacific Northwest Regional Championships” beginning this weekend, November 14th at Reser Stadium in Corvallis. Kick off is 8pm under the lights! The winner of this game will be crowed Pacific Northwest Champion and will advance for play at the prestigious “Pop Warner Super Bowl ” in Florida at the Disney ESPN Worldwide Complex starting December 5th-12th.
This team has been working overtime to earn this high honor of repressing the Northwest in Pop Warner’s highest level of play. With this great honor also comes the expense of transportation and lodging for 20 players as well as coaches in Florida for the weeklong competition. The goal is to get each player there to enjoy the once in a lifetime experience regardless of the family’s financial situation. The approximate cost is $2,000 per person. The kids and parents have been working to fundraise throughout the season, but will fall short without help from the community! If you are interested in donating, we can provide our full non-profit 501(c)(3) Tax ID number for your tax purposes.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and please wish us luck! Any donations small, or large will help our team with this amazing experience for some very deserving football players!
