This is my niece Venice Llavore Divinagracia. She is 8 years old and aspires to be a chef. She enjoys poetry, bike riding and playing with her two year old sister. Her favorite pastime is to listening and signing along to BTS, and making TikTok videos.
Three weeks ago Venice started having nightly seizers. Her parents took her to doctors and the seizers became worse and more frequent. Her doctors had become concerned once she stopped eating, and began throwing up. She was admitted to The Medical Center of Muntinlupa, Philippines and spent days in the Intensive Care Unit. After a battery of test and treatments she was diagnosed with Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease.
Stage 5 Kidney Disease means the kidneys are getting very close to failure or have completely failed. She will need a kidney transplant in the future, and her life will never return to what it was prior to the devastating diagnoses.
My niece lives in the Philippines and medical care is expensive by local standards. Current hospital bills are close to $200,000 PHP ($5,500 CAN), and ongoing treatment for both the seizers and her dialysis four times a day. To save cost my brother-in law and his wife will be completing the four times daily dialysis at home.
We are hoping to raise money to assist with the current hospital bills and ongoing medical cost. We appreciate any donations and prayers for my niece and family as we navigate this illness together.
