Dear Community Members and Friends,
My name is Veniamin Blokh, and I am a classical concert pianist. I am greatly honored to have been accepted on a full-tuition scholarship into the reputable Eastman School of Music for my doctorate degree. I am writing to share this exciting news and ask for your consideration of sponsorship or contribution to this endeavor.
Eastman attracts students who have a passion for music and are looking to chart their own unique paths toward their musical goals. The school is a comprehensive professional music school that is a part of a top-tier research university. It consistently ranks among the top-rated conservatories in the nation. With a student body of only 900 students, Eastman is one of the more selective conservatories, accepting fewer than 30 percent of applicants. Eastman is known for having an outstandingly rigorous program. Its graduate program is especially respected, drawing a number of prospective students from other conservatories.
The three-year doctorate program encourages the development of musicians pursuing professional studies in performance and teaching. I will have the opportunity to work on developing my performance skills as a soloist and a chamber musician, as well as having academic classes in music theory, music history, etc.
I have been playing piano since the age of four. I earned my Bachelor’s degree with honors from the prestigious St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in 2017. After graduation, I continued my education in the United States, where I received my Master’s degree with honors and graduated from an artist diploma program. In addition to my carrier as a solo pianist, I have also pursued my passion for vocal and instrumental chamber music. I am a laureate of many international piano competitions and festivals. I participated in numerous piano masterclasses with many great artists. I actively give concerts as a soloist and also collaborate with smaller ensembles.
While attending Eastman on a full-tuition scholarship is a remarkable opportunity, it introduces a financial significance of $8,000, including living expenses and other fees such as health insurance, etc. These expenses remain an investment; however, I am dedicated to doing everything I can to make this opportunity possible.
Anyone who donates $60 and more is eligible to receive a Russian language lesson(s), a lesson(s) on how to record music performances, a virtual/in-person piano lesson(s) or coaching(s), and a keyboard accompanying service(s).
Anyone who donates $120 and more is eligible to receive a private, live acoustic performance (~15 min.) via Zoom or Skype in addition to the options mentioned above.
