Venezuelan Migrant Support

My name is Erin, and I am fundraising for this beautiful family, new to the United States, and new to Denver.

Aldrin, Yanira, Alejandra, Emil and three-year-old Jako recently arrived in Denver after many arduous months of trying to get here. Fortunately, Aldrin has found steady work in construction and the family has saved up enough money to rent a place of their own, but housing in Denver is difficult, and they do not yet have much of the requisite paperwork or work history documentation that landlords so often desire. In other words, they are not competitive.

After talking with the director of West Colfax Lampstand, an organization that works to help people into affordable housing, I've learned that in order to be successful, most migrants need more than one month's rent saved in order to successfully transition into housing.

Aldrin has work, but construction during the winter months can be fragile. I am hoping to fundraise to build this beautiful family a cushion while the other adults in the family find work. I have set the goal of 5,000 which would be about three to four months rent depending on the property.

So many families are in need. So many are unhoused. So many in our world are fleeing desperate situations and seeking shelter elsewhere. This family is no more deserving than any of them. They are also no less deserving, which is why we've decided to rally around them. If you would like to help this family get into housing, please consider making a donation towards their rent. They are applying for affordable housing through West Colfax Lampstand and are also putting in applications elsewhere at various apartment complexes throughout the city. All funds will be put towards their rent so that they can offer up multiple months of rent in order to be more competitive in this very challenging rental market. If we can raise this money, it will also give them the time they need to secure work so that they do not end up on the streets again.
