William’s Story…
William is an active four year old boy. He is a pretty typical four year old, except that he has been diagnosed with some special needs. He is a fun-loving, happy little boy with two step-brothers (six and nine) and a new little sister (six months old). His world was filled with simple fun, happiness, and a bright future until June 12th when his world came crashing down upon him.
William was outside with his family blowing and popping bubbles with his brothers. His dad turned his back to grab a plate full of chicken to BBQ for the family dinner when William tripped and fell into an outdoor fire pit. William’s brother immediately pulled William out of the fire by his pant legs and his dad threw himself onto the little boy to put out the fire. William was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center’s burn unit (HCMC) and has been in critical condition with third degree burns over 52% of his body. After more than a month at HCMC he is now making some progress on his recovery after numerous and extensive skin graft surgeries. William has many more extensive surgeries ahead of him for years to come and lots of physical and occupational therapy, but his family is prepared for the long road ahead. It’s going to take lots of prayers, emotional, and financial help to keep this family going through the struggles ahead.
William’s extensive family, friends, and community are pulling together to help this little boy and his family get back on their feet. They have been unable to work because they are at the hospital daily with William. They face months of medical and emotional care for William’s needs. This story is shared as a heart-felt plea on their behalf, asking for any help you find in your heart to provide. Many people have already donated to William’s cause and we thank you. Much more help is needed for this long and difficult journey William and his family have ahead of them.
