Ven Giradurukotte Dhammasiri Thero Funeral Service

Dearest friends,

With heavy hearts, we inform you that our beloved Venerable Giradurukotte Dhammasiri Thera passed away peacefully on July 28th, 2022 due to complications of liver failure. He was treated at the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, for over two months. He was on a short visit to Maitthree Vihara Buddhist Meditation Center, Sun Valley, California.

With the authorization of Rathnayake Mudiyanselage Jayathissa, the father of Giradurukotte Dhammasiri, Aparekke Punyasiri, will withdraw the funds and make arrangements to transfer his remains to his family and friends back in Sri Lanka.

As many of you are aware, Dhammasiri hamuduruwo became a monk in 1990 at the age of 12. Among his many roles, he was the head monk of Katukenda Abeysingharamaya and Atiyawala Sri Sumanaramaya. His kindness and unconditional love that he had towards the various communities around the world will never be forgotten. Even though he is no longer with us, his teachings and morals will remain forever in our hearts. To say the least, he lived an amazing life of service to others.

Your prayers and thoughts for Giradurukotte Dhammasiri Thera’s family during this difficult time will be greatly appreciated as they are working towards bringing him to Sri Lanka.
