Hey all,

Asking for help has never been easy for me to do let alone asking total strangers on the internet for it. As most of you know my cat Velvet means the universe to me. He has been with me for a little over a year and as a first time cat mom I've spoiled him rotten in every way that I can. I know him like the back of my hand, so much that I can immediately tell if something is wrong. 
This morning I noticed Velvet  having difficulties using his litter box. At first I thought it was a simple stomach ache or constipation so I rushed to the pet store to get him some wheat grass and pumpkin puree to help him with his digestion. He eventually defecated as normal but then I noticed him straining in his litter box and being extremely vocal shortly after. I called his vet immediately and took him in but Velvet was too stressed out to let the vet perform a proper examination of his abdomen so he sent us home with no real answer and said to just come back in the morning. When we got back home Velvet was visibly in pain and continued to be vocal. I immediately rushed him to the emergency room and it turns out he has an urethral obstruction which means he's struggling to urinate and most likely has blockage that can cause his bladder to rupture.
I am completely gutted writing this in my empty apartment since I chose to hospitalize him for the next three days. I've never felt the pain I'm feeling now. Velvet has been with me during the darkest times of my life. He's helped me with my anxiety and has given me the love I've needed even if it comes with a couple of love bites. I know this year has been a shit show for all of us and I know we're all struggling but I don't think I've ever needed help like I do now. I feel alone and I can't imagine my life without Velvet.
The donations will be covering his three days hospitalization which include IV fluids, pain meds, a catheter, and whatever else is needed to keep my baby bat heathy. '
