Cuddy Family House Fire Recovery Fundraiser

At 2:30 today, an electrical fire destroyed my childhood home. My Mom was watching my youngest daughter, Frankie, when the fire started in her bedroom. My parent's two dogs and rescue kitten Velma were in the bedroom. Luckily, my mom was able to get the dogs and my daughter to safety. My mom returned inside in an attempt to rescue the remaining cats, but the smoke was too thick. A brave neighbor had to go inside to save my mom. Firefighters were able to contain the fire in time to rescue the remaining animals.

Everyone was safe and healthy, except for poor Velma who was trapped in the room the fire started in. She hid under a bureau, which is probably what kept her alive. However, she has severe smoke damage and burnt paws, so is in the ICU at the Emergency Vets.

My parents have lost everything today, and I refuse to give up on poor Velma. She is only about 7 months old, and is a rehabilitated feral kitten. We were just getting her socialized and to not be afraid of humans, and then this tragedy happened.

The maximum estimated cost of care for medical expenses is about $4000, which is a lot of money, especially for my parents who no longer have a home. If you are able to, please help . We are currently maxing out our credit cards to save this kitten.

Update!

The vet believes Velma will be able to go home today. She is currently being weaned off of oxygen. If shes stable for a few hours off oxygen, she will be coming home!

She will be living with me as I was her foster before she went to my parents. My parents are currently living out of a hotel with their two dogs and one cat that didn't run off during the fire.

Thank you again for all your support. I will post the final vet bill when I get it. Any extra money will go directly to my parents. They have nothing at the moment besides the clothes they were wearing. My mom ran out of the house with no shoes, so even those needed to be replaced. Every penny helps, so we are truly thankful

Second Update!

Thank you again for all your support! We are all so overwhelmed by the love from our friends and family. My mom was up all night crying because of how many people have come forward to help, whether it was offering snacks and water, help with transport, temporary shelter, supplies for the pets, or even sharing our fundraiser on their social media platforms. Every little bit helps!

I'm updating this fundraiser to reflect my entire family. While Velma's initial vet bill was overwhelmingly expensive, my parents will need to rebuild over 30 years of their lives. They lost everything. So like I said before, I will post Velma's final vet bill here, and everything else is going directly to my parents so they can pay for shelter, clothes, food, toiletries, and other supplies for their 4 pets (they found Monty, the cat that everyone thought ran off!)
