Help Bring Gina Home ❤️
My dear friend of 58 years Gina Thomson (McGregor) needs our help.
On September 9th, during our flight home from a holiday in Turkey, Gina suddenly became unresponsive. The plane had to divert to Croatia, where she was rushed to KBC Hospital and admitted straight into intensive care.
She was placed on a ventilator and kept heavily sedated for weeks as doctors battled to stabilize her. It was later discovered that she was suffering from pneumonia, COPD, and other undiagnosed health issues that made her condition even more critical.
After weeks of uncertainty Gina was taken off the ventilator and slowly regained consciousness. However, she remains seriously unwell, still struggling with bronchitis and a tracheostomy to help her breathe.
The doctors in Croatia have now said she is able to be transported home, but only with specialist medical assistance. This means she needs a medical evacuation (medivac) flight — the only safe way to get her back to the UK and into the care of her local hospital, where she can continue her recovery surrounded by family and friends.
Sadly, the British Embassy has confirmed that they cannot offer any financial help for this kind of transport. I’ve been quoted between £25,000–£30,000 to bring Gina home safely.
That’s why I’m reaching out — to everyone who knows Gina, and to anyone touched by her story — to ask for your help. Gina is a kind, caring, and fun-loving person who didn’t deserve for her holiday to end this way. All we want now is to bring her home — so she can be with her loved ones for Christmas, to recover in familiar surroundings, and to start rebuilding her strength.
Please, if you can, donate whatever you’re able to. Every single pound will make a difference in helping us bring Gina home. If you’re unable to donate, please share this page to help spread the word.
From the bottom of my heart — thank you for your kindness, love, and support. Let’s bring our Gina home. ❤️ Aileen
