Blessing the Bushes

On Sunday, January 29, 2023, my sister-in-law, Lisa Bush, went to Atlanta with a friend for Effingham day in the capital. After attending a session that afternoon, she noticed her legs and feet were feeling funny and went back to her hotel room to rest. After a while, she contacted my brother-in-law, Richard, to tell him something wasn’t right. Later, she contacted Richard again and told him he needed to come get her. Once Richard got to her, she had lost feeling in her legs and feet, so they went to Grady Hospital in Atlanta to have her checked out. The lost feeling gradually moved up, and after many tests and listening to Lisa’s complaints, the doctors diagnosed her with Guillian Barre Syndrom (GBS). She was admitted and, shortly after admission, was moved to Neuro ICU.

At this point, Lisa has lost feeling in her legs, feet, arms, and some in her hands. She’s had a lung collapse and is currently on a ventilator. The doctors have done a series of procedures to help boost her immune system, and they are now working on getting her breathing better and keeping her comfortable while her body fights back. Lisa is scheduled for a tracheotomy tomorrow (February 9, 2023) to help give her more relief. At this point, there is no timetable for her recovery, and it will be a long road to getting her better.

I’ve watched both Lisa and Richard devote endless amounts of time to helping others in our community, and it is my hope that this Go Fund Me can be a way for our community to show them how much they are loved and appreciated and to help relieve some of the financial burdens of the expenses they are facing.

Our family is so thankful for all of the thoughts and prayers that have been sent Lisa’s way. Even in this horrific situation, we know that God is still good and pray that he will be glorified through it all.
