Mike's Medical Expenses

Hi my name is Virginia Claus and I am raising funds to help with my husband Mike's health issues.

As many of you know, Mike has had a lot of health issues over the years. In September of 2020, Mike was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Before we could set up treatment for the cancer, he had an intestinal rupture that required immediate lifesaving surgery. The result of that surgery was that he had to have a colostomy for six months, and then it could be reversed.

He has had the reversal but required an ileostomy until the reversal healed properly, that too has been removed. We are now waiting for the results of bone scans and CT scans to be sure that the cancer hasn't spread, as it has been a year and a half since diagnosis. We are hoping the prostate removal will be scheduled near the end of March as well as the hernia that resulted from the colostomy revearsal. He has had three surgeries within the last fifteen months.

In 2009 Mike had a stroke and was left with Thalamic Pain Syndrome on his entire right side that leaves him in chronic pain 24/7. He also had major back surgery that he is reminded of daily. He has begun to have issues with his hearing and needs hearing aids. We're also addressing issues with his knees & feet. Throughout all of his problems, he continues to work (mainly from home). We have exhausted most of what we had set aside for medical bills and still have a lot more ahead to deal with.

We have always been very private people and don’t put our struggles on social media, so this is really difficult. Mike did not want to do a GoFundMe page because he is too proud. It is tough to ask for help, but ultimately it will take some worry away from Mike, and that's what I am trying to focus on because Mike has been through more than most people in the last year and a half and continues to fight while keeping a positive attitude. I just want him well and back to his normal self and have his pain reduced. Anything is appreciated and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
