Veeravat Soisuvarn's Last Journey

I am writing this with a heavy broken heart in hopes of finding time to spend with my Grandpa Veeravat Soisuvarn, a Father of three, a Grandfather of five and a friend of many. Veeravat resides in Bangkok, Thailand where he spends his time reading, walking to the market to find the best noodle soup and connecting with friends & family whether it be visiting at a local cafe or via Facebook when part of his family is a world away. He enjoys following his Grandchildren grow up and has become a big fan of the FaceTime, making it almost feel like we are actually in the same room. 


As of June, Stage 4 Colon Cancer has made it's terrible presence into our lives. Since then there has been many visits to multiple physicians in Bangkok. Many consultations. Not a lot of treatment. By late July we were notified that his life expectancy is about three months. We purchased our trips immediately to fly to Thailand from Kansas City by this September. 

There was one last opportunity for treatment in China. We have been so fortunate to have my Uncle Joke Soisuvarn caring for him through this hard time. My Grandpa & Uncle travelled together to China last week to receive one last consultation. Unfortunately, he was not eligible for the treatment due to his current condition. The doctor is expecting only a few more weeks and our last option is to admit to hospice care. At this point, we have exhausted all of our funds. 


Thankfully through this process we have received assistance from many family to help us find a treatment. It is hard to write but we cannot solely afford to put my Grandpa in hospice care to live out the rest of his short life. I am starting a GoFundMe to reach out to our community, friends & family to help raise money for the medical care & expenses. The donations will go towards his hospice care so that he may rest peacefully in Thailand. We are so grateful for all the love and support we have received through this journey and will continue to be grateful!
