Sweet Veera Bean has been very sick since thanks giving and unfortunately has required continued treatment and hospitalization for pancreatitis and secondary complications with her liver.
Veera was initially diagnosed with pancreatitis at UC Davis 11/25/23 via abdominal ultrasound and bloodwork. She came home with medications but continued to decline and was hospitalized at UC Davis for two additional nights. She started to improve so I brought her home again. Unfortunately after a couple of days she declined again and has been hospitalized since with the VCA internal medicine specialty group, where she is receiving absolutely top notch care (they are INCREDIBLE).
Unfortunately, due to the degree of inflammation in her pancreas she has a secondary obstruction of her common bile duct. These conditions are life threatening without adequate treatment, the mainstay of which is hospitalization on IV fluids, pain medications, and gastro-protectants.
Veera is a senior but otherwise healthy gal, with a lot of life left to live and her doctors and I are confident in her prognosis. Thankfully, her liver values are starting to improve and she is showing more interest in food. Her vet bills have been WAY more than expected and at this point have totaled around $12,000. Although she is showing improvement, she could really use 2-3 more days of hospitalization to give her the best chance at recovery.
Since adopting Veera about 10 years ago, she has been the best pup and friend I could ever imagine. I owe it to her to do everything I can for her now. My financial situation has become a limiting factor, so I am reaching out to my community for support. Giving in the form of positive vibes/energy is also welcome and appreciated. All funds will be put directly towards Veera's care.
Venmo is another option which cuts out the small 3% transfer fee. My venmo is @jsellis.
Thank you!
Jayne and Veera (and Honey)
