Vee vs the Big C

Donation protected
Hey friends, fam and the 4680 clan,

Vee needs a hand to support his new drug habit and I got sick of asking for his gofundme link so here it is. Although he’ll always be a big kid in spirit, apparently the system doesn’t agree(from what I understand, he can explain more eloquently I am sure) so funding for treatments for his particular kind of cancer - predominantly considered a childhood cancer - doesn’t really exist for adults yet. But in all seriousness its not even just this, its been a long road for him and his family 3.5 years and counting. Having just recently actually been able to return to work only to also have the cancer return in his Peritoneum lymph nodes and then commencing 12 weeks of targeted radiation again and working is a lot. While his positivity and strength through it all is unwavering, we could all give a little to help lighten the load while he waits for the next PET scan.

If you’re anything like me and left in awe of how he is handling this but desperately wishing you could do more, help more, support more from afar etc (without getting the brush off - thanks V) here’s a little something we can all do together while we wait for his latest results. To give him treatment, time and a perhaps a tiny slice of peace of mind.

He would never condone this, so we’ll just have to do it and ask for forgiveness later. Sorry mate.

Please share with anyone who knows the big man and his even bigger heart. Vaughn is nominated as the beneficiary and all donations will go directly to him to use as he sees fit.

*MORE ELOQUENT UPDATE AS PROMISED*
Hello everyone
A big thank you to Terri for starting this go fund me page. Both of us find it a bit uncomfortable

We wanted to give some more context to what’s going on with Vee’s treatment. As you all know, his last scan showed that neuroblastoma cancer had returned to his lymph nodes near his stomach area. A huge kick in the guts considering the hell he went through over the last year. We both thought it had worked.

Vee has now finished 12 radiation treatments and he is waiting for his next scan. He has also been put into an “incurable disease program” to get further support and open the door to trial treatments in future. His oncologist will start his next stage of treatment which is medication costing $7000 per month. Because he is not a child, this is not free. He has applied for a waiver or discount noting the circumstances but we have not heard back. There is no telling how long he would be on his medication either.. some people are on it for life and others only for a few months. I didn’t think in a country like Australia, we’d be faced with that.

Anyway, we don’t expect anything. We will be fine. It’s obviously not what we want to be spending money on but it’s giving us hope and time as a family in reality. Our next few years will be focused on treatment while living the best life we can - holidays and fun stuff.

Your support has meant the world to both of us & hope you’re all keeping positive like us.
