Many of you know I have been working at an amazing elementary school called Hermes for the past decade. Recently, one of our teachers' assistants, Maria Meraz, tragically lost her older daughter, Paulina, unexpectedly. Her younger daughter, Alondra, was in my first class at Hermes and their family has always held a special place in my heart. Paulina was in Mexico at the time and the family flew down last minute to be with her. Not only have they incurred travel expenses but also medical and now funeral expenses.
