Hello there, thanks for joining me xx I’m here today to ask for help getting gender-affirming care, and I’m refreshing this bio to give you a clearer idea of what that entails, and where your money will go.

Here’s an approximate list of expenses that I will update as I get confirmation:

✅ £350: First step was a success! I have had a consultation with a psychologist which will allow me to apply to UK based surgeons offering top surgery✅

~£200-£500: an initial consultation with the gender affirming care surgeon of my choice. I am looking at a specific surgeon currently, however if after consultation I am in any way unsure I will be going to other consultations. This is a big deal and I want to make sure I’m getting this right ❤️

UPDATE: I have had and paid for a consultation with a top surgeon, however I wasn’t overly thrilled with it and have decided to go for another consultation to explore my options. This next consultation will be at the beginning of August and will hopefully get the ball rolling on actual surgery!

£8000-£12000: the price of the actual surgery! Currently the surgeon I’m looking at is around £10000, but this varies patient to patient.

£400: additional recovery money. I haven’t actually calculated this one out yet but I’ll need at least two weeks off work recovering, and six to eight weeks of being very careful and gentle with myself. My hope is that I’ll be in a position at the point of surgery where I will have paid sick leave available to me, but this might not be the case.

(you might notice my goal is a lot less than what this all adds up to, I’m working quite hard myself to save for the surgery as well, but anything over the goal will absolutely be a huge help)

UPDATE: I’ve put down a more realistic goal now that my current profession is less well paid than my previous one, meaning I’ll be unlikely able to save the amount I was hoping to.
