On August 28th Curt was not feeling well. The suspected source of that illness was a virus. Over the course of several weeks, additional symptoms surfaced and Curt’s condition worsened as the family and his physicians sought answers. After several weeks of missed work, consultations with physicians and later hospitalization, an MSSA infection which went sepsis was identified.
This infection attacked Curt’s lungs, kidneys, muscles, bones and finally his heart for which a further diagnosis of Endocarditis, a life threatening condition, was confirmed. Since receiving that definitive diagnosis and the further complication of Endocarditis, Curt has battled several associated physical challenges which included the need for several blood transfusions.
At present, Curt, has shown a bit of improvement and has been allowed to return home where he is actively undergoing aggressive treatment with intravenous antibiotics, regular monitoring of his hemoglobin levels and continued assessment that the infection continues to clear. Barring unforeseen setbacks, this course of treatment will continue through October 28th. On October 29th, Curt will undergo several tests to evaluate the Endocarditis and ascertain the need for open heart surgery to replace a valve that was impacted by the infection.
The Challenge:
The medical bills are mounting in addition to lost income. There is uncertainty regarding when Curt will be able to return to work. The earliest would be early November if no surgery is needed. Paula continues to work while also caring for Curt.
The Needs:
Spiritual: It is by God’s grace, healing hand and answer to the prayers of many that healing has thus far taken place. Please continue to pray for:
• A miracle and complete healing for Curt
• Continued strength and peace of mind for the Myers family as they are in the midst of this storm
• Wisdom for the medical teams who assess Curt’s condition and develop ongoing treatment plans
Physical:
Meals prepared for the Myers family during this time will allow them to maintain proper nutrition and allow their focus to remain on caregiving
Financial:
Medical costs coupled with the loss of income create additional stress during already challenging times. Assistance of this nature is beneficial for this family.
