Hi, I’m Jaclyn.

My 16 year old son Alex lives with my husband and I, as well as our three pets: Roo, Luna, and Gizmo.

I never thought I would be making a GoFundMe, but I have come to the end of my rope and now find myself and my family on the verge of being evicted from our home if we don’t pay immediately.

As our family and friends know, in 2023 we lost our home due to the mortgage rate increases - our mortgage rate had doubled and we could no longer afford to live there, so our home went into foreclosure.

We then moved into a rental property nearby so Alex could continue going to the same school, which we initially could afford, as having to move schools would have been detrimental to Alex’s mental health at the time.

Unfortunately after a few months I was diagnosed with a rare form of Epstein–Barr virus and it rendered me unable to work for almost a year. When I returned to the workforce, I did well for a while, but eventually my EBV (Epstein–Barr virus) flared up once more and I lost my job. I was again off work, given no choice but to try and recover. I qualified for a small amount of Employment Insurance but it helped only for a short time before running out.

During my ongoing health problems, my husband worked in HVAC as a general manager and lost his job as well (through no fault of his own). He has worked at several places since, but because the industry is so slow, he’s been laid off multiple times - which has left our family in complete financial distress.

We have signed up for food bank, welfare doesn’t help, we have done everything we can think of to make ends meet..and yet we still can’t get ahead.

We are about to be homeless, I have begged our landlord to give us time to pay off July and August rent because I have no idea how I’m going to explain to my son we can’t live here anymore because we are getting evicted.

I am returning to work in the fall as a school bus driver and my husband is starting a new job this week; we are doing everything we can to get our heads above water but it feels like we are drowning.
