Logan’s and Lincoln’s Fight against HLH.

Logan has a genetic disorder where he’s missing a protein in his blood. This proteins is the protein that stop your body from continuing to attack itself if you’re sick. So when he caught the mono virus (ebv) it kicks started his immune system to over react which has caused HLH. He is going to be on a treatment for 10 weeks for the HLH we will get to come home during this time if everything is going well with treatment for the HLH. then after that he is going to need a bone marrow transplant. He will be on chemo for a week in hospital getting ready for the bone marrow transplant. which will make him very susceptible to getting sick. He will be in recovery for months. Half time in the hospital and half time at home. This is going to be a very long process of getting him back to normal. He will lose his hair. He will not be allowed to see people or go out of the house except for the hospital for a very long time.
He has already been in the the hospital for Two weeks and for a week before that he was in and out of multiple ers only to be sent home saying it’s just a virus there is nothing they can do. Before finally being admitted to the children’s hospital. Where it was still test after test. So far he has had 3 echos,1 ultrasound,1 mri, 5iv, 1 pick line,1 bone marrow biopsy,1 spinal tap.
He has also have had many different types of treatments that did little to help.
Just from the past few weeks the bills have already begun to pile up. A lot of work has been missed, a lot of money has been spent on gas from going back and forth to the hospital that is an hour away from our home.
I also have three other children at home one of which is a only one month old. The one month old is also at risk of having the missing protein and will need to be tested. If he is found to have it he too will need a bone marrow transplant as a preventative measures in hopes he too will not develop HLH.
I am asking if anyone can help with the expenses that have already began to pile up and to help with expenses in the future, because I’m sure we will need help with gas, food, and house hold bills. Any help will be greatly appreciated. And It will be one less thing I will have to worry about in this very scary stressful time and give me more time and energy to put into Logan and getting him healthy. Hi guys thank you all for the love and prayers. Logan will be going in for his bone marrow transplant on October 21st we will be in the hospital for 6 weeks if all goes well. He will be on very high dose chemo treatment for a week. This chemo will wipe out his bone marrow he will lose all his hair the drs will put the feeding tube back in because he will get mouth sores so bad he will not want to eat. They are going to take out his picc and put a central venous catheter this will go directly into his heart. He will be in a lot of pain they will have him on pain medicine. Automatically and continuously medication pump. On day zero he will have his transplant they say it looks a lot like getting blood it will go directly into his central catheter. He has a 10/10 match which is so awesome. This is a very scary time for us Logan has done so well with his treatment so far. It’s going to get a lot worse before he’s better. I hate that we have to do this he’s so much better now and we have to make him really sick again to do this transplant but it’s the only option he has or he can flare up again. The drs call him a ticking time bomb. After the transplant he will be on total isolation for a very long time. Even when we go home he will not be out anywhere other then the drs. A lot of families I have talked too keep there warrior at home for over an year. So this means no school no outings no birthdays. So to the hard part of me asking for help. My sister is going to have to stay home with the kids, aunt and uncle while we are in the hospital that means she’s going to have to take time off of work. Travis will be taking time off as well so he can be in the hospital with Logan and I this means we are going to take a very hard hit on our Financials. I’m asking everyone to share this we are going to need as much help as possible.
