Lucy was recently diagnosed with a problem prone to medium and larger breed dogs, an Anterior Cranial Cruciate Ligament tear in her rear right leg. It is very similar to an ACL tear in humans. Unfortunately, the price tag for the surgery is an "arm and a leg," pun intended. Lucy needs a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy to restore function to her right back leg. She's in pain and on medication right now to decrease the inflamation and associated pain. She can't put weight on her back rear leg and expresses the discomfort with a hoarse cough or cry. Right now Lucy and I live on the second floor of an apartment complex that involves hiking three series of stairs until we get to the top. For the forseeable future, and until Lucy is healed, I will be carrying her up those stairs. She stops infront of them because it is too painful for her to go up.
Lucy is still young, she's only 6 and has a long life ahead of her. I want her to be able to run at the beach like she has in the past and live as full a life as she possibly can. She's my best friend and I wish I could do this without asking for help, but I can't.
Lucy's been a travelin' lass from Tallhassee, Florida and has joined me in my travels across the U.S. to Los Angeles. She's been with me through thick and thin and as any dog owner knows, is the best friend anyone could ever have. Lucy will get better and hopefully I can count on your contribution, whatever the amount, to help us get there. For another decade of "piggy-back rides" to come, please help me be the dog mommy I couldn't be without your help. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you can chip in it would mean the world to me and goose!
