August 2014 best month of our lives, we found out that we were gonna have a gift from God! November 2014 we found it was a BOY and boy were we excited!! February 2015 I found out that I had gestational diabetes, the first problem that I have had so far and I must say this has been the most rewarding thing you can ever achieve!!

A couple of months went by of weekly appts and non stress test and things kept looking a good then April 2015 came along and I started swelling and blood pressure was out of the roof! April 15th I was put in the hospital for an overnight stay to have my blood pressure monitored, things looked good the next day and I was released and we celebrated my husbands birthday on the 16th by catching up on sleep lost from the night before but he was such a trooper because he just wanted us to be ok!! Monday came and I went in for a blood pressure check and stress test and things were ok, Thursday April 23rd came and I had an appt for blood pressure and stress test and things weren't the best so they sent us to the hospital to start the indication process.. The excitement we were feeling was unbelievable, we were fixing to become mommy and daddy!!!

Around 4:00 pm thru started the process and at 2:00 am on April 24th my water broke and I stared progressing, at 9:00am I had an ultrasound done and noticed that the baby was in my left side and not wanting to move from the spot he was at!

The day went on and the pain for greater and greater and I kept progressing, they stared turning me left to right to turn and get him to move and turn but little man wasn't having it and my sugar started dropping because I hadn't had anything but ice chips since 2am so they had to give me apple juice and that didn't work!!

Around 8 pm the dr came in and said that we were gonna have to have a urgent c section and at 8:21pm after 18 LONG hours we had a big ole 9 pound 13.9 oz baby boy and Lane Hubbard Downs was forever gonna steal our hearts!!

They worked awhile and brought him around to show him to us and said they were gonna have to take him on to the nursery, were we scared but had to remain clam so that I could be taken care of, I was taken to recovery and Lanes dr came out and told us that there were some problems and that he may have to air lift him Charlotte, at this point I was so scared I was speechless, but j knew God would take care of us.

I was in recovery for an hour and after that I was taken to my room where my amazing family was full of love and tears and hearts full of faith for Ben and I!! The dr came and told us they were here to take Lane that he had partially clasped lung.. And in that moment 3 complete strangers walked into my room and were pushing my sweet baby in so I could tell him bye and then moments later my husband was coming to tell me bye so he could go and be with our son and I was left in Shelby! Talking about a heartbreak I couldn't put into words the feelings that I had at that moment but looking back the good lord took care of me because I would have never made it without him!!

Ben got to Charlotte and stated texting me with updates and letting me know what all they were doing for Lane. Like I said earlier I had gestational diabetes so Lanes body grow bigger than his development did so his lungs were very permunare and needs a lot of help so they put him on a ventilator and breathing tube and lots of ivs..
Finally the next day April 25 around 8pm I was finally taken to Charlotte and was with my family again.. And the emotional roller coaster started and at 1:00am I finally got to see my little boy after it being 24 hours...

The days went on and test were ran and they found that his heart was larger on one side than the other and he has really bad shakes so they did an MRI to check and see what was causing that and after the MRI it showed that he has serve brain damage and that he has HIE ( Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy)

Something NOBODY wants to hear much less on your new born child.. We have been praying like crazy and giving it all to God, our faith has lead us home and we are now home after staying in levines for 13 days.. We have been told that Lane needs physical therapy (which we have once a week) and that he will have to be followed very close in his development and we have someone that comes once a week to follow him and will come until he's 3 years old.

More than anything, we ask that you take a moment to pray for Lane and this sweet family. If you want to give then I know that Ben and Alisa would appreciate the support more than you know. The goal of this fundraiser is about 10 times less than the actual amount that they will probably end up with in medical bills, so every bit of support helps.

Thank you so much.
