Help Hannah Get a Service Dog
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Hannah Fortado. I have decided to start a GoFundMe to raise funds for adopting and training a service dog because I have ran out of all other options. In November of 2019, I received 3 concussions in a week due to an accident that left me with a seizure disorder. I spent months in and out of clinics, doctor's offices, and hospitals trying to figure out what was wrong with me, neurologically. These months turned into years until finally, I had a diagnosis: Psychogenic, Non-Epileptic Seizures (PNES). While neurologists were (and still are) unsure why my seizures aren't epileptic, there was one piece of evidence that had been hidden amongst the chaos: trauma from physical abuse that I had endured with my father in 2019. After telling my story of what happened with him, everything started to make sense to doctors; this was something psychiatric as well as physical -- an abhorrently perfect concoction to create such a diagnosis. The idea of a service dog (PTSD/seizure response) had been up in the air, but it just wasn't thought possible for me. Through intense therapy and medication, I seemed to respond well and improve. However, the seizures have progressively become worse, to the point where it has become dangerous for me to be alone in a situation where I may be unaware of an oncoming seizure and could hit my head during a fall. Since my recent hospitalization, my doctors have been fighting tooth and nail for the advocacy of me obtaining a service dog, but to no avail. So it is here, that I humbly ask for your support to help me live a better, more independent life. The funds will be used to pay for the dog as well as training and any medical necessities.
