Restarting After House Fire
Donation protected
Today, November 21, 2020, my parents lost their home in a house fire. What we were hoping would be minimal smoke damaged ended up being a "complete loss" and "one very bad fire" according to the fire department. Whatever hadn't been charred or melted had extreme smoke and water damage from trying to put out the fire.
Luckily my dad, who is disabled, was able to get out, and is being watched overnight in the hospital due to smoke inhalation from him trying to save their little dog, Bear. Judging by the extent of the damage, we honestly do not know how he got out in the first place, let alone getting out the second time.
Sadly, Bear ran back into the home and couldn't be saved when he was found.
My mom, who is a nurse, was in another city working at the time and has lost everything she has worked so hard for. Our childhood memories, hours of work she spent renovating by herself (we jokingly call her Joanna Gaines) to make her dream house her own, and everything from clothes, electronics, and the basic day to day things we take for granted.
I know it's hard to ask for this year, since everyone has had their fair share of struggles (and with it being the holidays), but if you could spare anything, it would be so appreciated as they start over from scratch. We understand if you can't, and ask to please keep my mom (Amy and Jeff) in your prayers.
I have included photos below in the places where the roof/floors were safe to access, and a video my brother took through what he could access.
All money will go directly to my mom.
