Support Emma's Veterinary Technician Dream

My name is Emma. I have been enrolled in a Veterinary Technician Program for several months and will be halfway through the program in a few months. This field of study has been my dream since I was in 6th grade. My graduation date is April 2025. I enjoy working with animals and love my studies! It is a fast-paced program and because of the intense study and kennel duty early in the morning and late in the evening, the institution prefers we do not work a job. My favorite part of school is learning technical skills such as drawing blood, learning to administer vaccines, watching surgeries and learning CPR. My future goal is to work in a large veterinary hospital. I may work towards a Bachelor 's degree after I have worked in the field for a while. The job opportunities are endless.

My parents divorced when I was a year old, and my mom has been a single mom all this time. She had some money saved back for school, but the money will be used up in a couple of months. I do apply for financial aid and my mom has cosigned for several student loans for me and my twin sister who is going to college for teaching. For those who do not know, there is a limit on the amount of money that a person can cosign for another person, and we are quickly reaching that limit. A few months after my mom and dad divorced, my dad quit working, remarried and is on disability. He says he cannot help pay for college.
