Help us say goodbye to our beloved Mum
Our beautiful mum is just 56 years old — far too young to be facing the end of her life. Just a month ago, she walked into A&E with a swallowing problem. Within three days, our world turned upside down. She was diagnosed with stage 4 incurable lung cancer that has already spread to her brain, liver, bone marrow, blood, and lymph nodes. Doctors have given her only three months to live which has now progressed to day by day.
In just a few short weeks, we’ve watched the life and light fade from her eyes. She’s suffered three painful pathological fractures — two in her hip and one in her leg — caused by the aggressive spread of the cancer, leaving her bedbound and in constant pain. Every day with her is becoming shorter and harder, and our hearts are breaking watching her suffer like this.
Mum has faced challenges her whole life, particularly with her mental health, which meant she couldn’t work in the traditional sense. But her life was anything but insignificant. She gave herself fully to helping others — volunteering with charities focused on mental health and addiction, offering a listening ear to those who felt unheard, and even spending her own benefit money on care packages for the homeless. Her kindness knew no bounds. Even when she had little, she gave so much.
She has no funeral plan, no savings, no property, and no assets. What she leaves behind is love — three children, six grandchildren, and a legacy of compassion and generosity. But now, we’re faced with the devastating reality that we cannot afford to give her the burial she wants — the one she deserves.
Mum is witty, strong, selfless, and loved deeply by everyone who’s had the privilege of knowing her. We want to honor her memory in a way that reflects the love she gave so freely throughout her life. We’re asking for your help to raise the funds needed for her final farewell — to help take away some of the financial stress so we can focus on saying goodbye.
Why We’re Asking for £10,000:
Funeral costs in Kingston upon Thames are among the highest in the UK. Here's a breakdown of the estimated expenses:
Grave Purchase (Resident Rate): £2,830
Burial Fee: £2,150
Funeral Director Services: £3,000
Coffin, Hearse, and Ceremony Costs: £1,000–£1,500
Memorial Headstone (Basic): £1,000
Wake, Flowers, and Other Expenses: £500–£1,000
These costs add up quickly, and we want to ensure Mum has the dignified farewell she deserves.
Any donation, no matter the size, will help us give her the send-off she truly deserves. If you can't donate, please consider sharing this page to help us reach more people.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
