Edit: Mom went home to be with Jesus! If you gave thank you! It was not wasted. Mom loved her time in Mexico. We are so grateful to all of you!
Hi! I’m Molly Roberson and somehow God gave me worlds greatest mom, her name is Kathy Magee. She’s the kindest, most loving, most giving, and most joyous woman on planet earth. If you know her then you know she spent her entire life serving others. She raised 4 kids, she is a Gigi to three beautiful grands, and she ran a non profit ministry with my dad to care for the elderly while simultaneously giving back faithfully to her community. She devoted her entire life to serving Jesus and loving others really really well. She’s never asked for anything in return. And she’s not asking now…I am.
In June my mom began to experience some ambiguous abdominal pain. She decided to get it looked at by the doctor, that turned into an ultrasound, which lead to a CT scan. The results came back that she had a 4cm mass on her pancreas and it had metastasized to her peritoneum (abdominal wall), and at the end of July (2022) to our complete and utter shock my sweet mama was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic metastatic cancer. The oncologist said she has 3-6 months left to live if she doesn’t do the aggressive chemo he has suggested and if she does do the chemotherapy he said that may only extend her life for another two months (maybe more?). She unfortunately doesn’t qualify for surgery, radiation, or immunotherapy because her cancer is too advanced. How is this possible? My vibrant mom who dances with my 7 month old baby, swims everyday, hosts a womens Bible study, and cares for my dad who has advanced Parkinson’s, has cancer? To say the least I’m beyond devastated and in complete disbelief but instead of quitting my mom is ready to fight. We’ve spent the last several weeks digging into alternative therapies that could really help my mom. The best therapy option we’ve found is in Mexico at a facility called Hope for Cancer and it’s sadly not covered by insurance so we are asking for her community to step in and help cover the cost of this treatment.
We know this is a big ask, especially in a recession, especially when there are so many needs in this world, and so many different ways you could spend your money. Anything helps! Maybe you’ll drink one less cup of coffee this week and give to help my mom? Maybe you’ll find a random 20 in your glove box in your car and realize you could give it? It doesn’t have to be a lot but if my mom has blessed you in any way, then consider supporting this unconventional endeavor. Ultimately we know the Lord will provide because he always has! Watching my parents serve in ministry my entire life has shown me this lesson time and time again. God sees, God provides.
If you can’t give financially that’s completely ok! What you can do is pray! Pray for radical healing, pray that she has peace as she gets treated in Mexico, pray that we have continued wisdom on how to move forward with this very scary diagnosis.
thank you!
We. Love. You.
